Welcome to the State of Technical SEO Report 2023 from Aira & Women in Tech SEO.

After the success of our report in 2022, we’re thrilled to join forces again and launch the 2023 version of the report. This year, we received insights from over 500 SEOs and once again, have experts exclusively from the Women in Tech SEO Community who have shared their thoughts on the results.

We’ve split the report into a range of sections which we hope will make it easier for you to read and digest. Some questions have been asked across in-house SEOs, agencies and freelancers, allowing for a direct comparison between the answers. Given that this is our second report, we’ve also highlighted some areas where we’ve been able to compare differences in the answers compared to last year’s report.

As we kick off 2023, we’re continuing to see a difficult economic outlook across many countries and this may well lead to some challenges for a range of companies. Many are also still dealing with the aftermath of the pandemic, perhaps leading to tighter budgets and more pressure to hit targets.

With this context in mind, the outlook for SEO is still relatively positive, despite our agency and freelance respondents reporting a slight year-on-year drop in demand for SEO services. Overall, demand (and budgets) are still in a good place and many SEOs will be in good shape to ride any waves that come our way over the next 12 months.

If you’d like to chat about the results or have any questions at all, feel free to get in touch with either Areej or myself via the contact links provided.
